Nakasendo & Japan Alps
Starts in Kyoto. Ends in Matsumoto. 2 seats remaining.
Join a 10-day walking tour of the historic Nakasendo and the spectacular Japan Alps. Reconnect to nature and experience the soul-cleansing practice of Japanese forest bathing as you walk along feudal-era trails from Kyoto to the Central Alps. Let's trail the most scenic part of Nakasendo, explore well-preserved charming post towns and rest in a traditional inn with a hearty regional dinner. After traversing Nakasendo, enjoy an arty day in Matsumoto, followed by hikes in Kamikochi and Norikura Kogen.
This is a fully guided small group tour suitable for avid walkers with curious minds who enjoy and can walk continuously for 3 to 5 hours. The walking course includes pleasant to moderate mountain challenges with inclines, declines, and some steep steps. Please expect to walk between 10km to 15 km on each walking day. During the Nakasendo walks, our main luggage is sent to Matsumoto, and you’ll need to walk carrying a backpack. To travel between towns, we mainly use Japan’s sophisticated public transportation network.
